Mrs. Evans - 4th Grade

Welcome to Fourth Grade!

Welcome to our classroom! I am so excited about this school year and teaching fourth grade! Please email me with any questions you have as the school year progresses. Feel free to explore our website to find weekly updates and learning goals, our classroom calendar, weekly assignments, some student website resources, and my email address.

My teaching philosophy:

I believe in a constructivist classroom approach. I feel that students learn and retain information much more effectively when they are constructing their own knowledge and making their own discoveries. To facilitate this, we use many different tools in our classroom. Technology allows us to seek knowledge, and the answers to our questions, in much faster, and more efficient ways. We will learn to use technology as a tool, and like every tool, we will learn to use it safely and efficiently.

We also work on developing the whole child. Fourth grade is an exciting year for students, as they continue to transition to the upper, intermediate elementary school grades. Students will continue to build upon what they learned in third grade, and continue to progress in writing about their thinking, so that they can share their opinions and observations with a wider audience. We will encourage everyone to share their opinions and participate in class discussions. Everyone will be encouraged to find their own voice, and to share it in the most effective way possible.

Get to know Mrs. Evans:

"The object of teaching a child is to enable him to get along without his teacher."

Elbert Hubbard

We will work to prepare students with the knowledge and skills to have the best future possible!

Mrs. Evans' Class Wish List

My husband and I moved to Colorado twelve years ago from Virginia, and we absolutely love it here! On the weekends we enjoy hiking, being outdoors, and spending time with our daughter Jordan, (a fourth grader at Redstone) and our son Oliver (a first grader at Redstone). This is my 15th year teaching, and my 8th year at Redstone. I've taught Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, second grade, and both third and fourth grades here at Redstone. A few years ago I was also fortunate enough to be able to work as an interventionist with fourth and fifth graders. I couldn't be more thrilled to be teaching fourth grade again! I look forward to getting to know all of you!
